QUALITY ENGINEER
Position Qualifications:
- A broad knowledge of statistical theory and principles, including statistical process control (SPC).
- Diverse knowledge of inspection control methods, techniques, and documentation.
- Understanding of the manufacturing environment.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- In-depth knowledge of quality systems, policies, and procedures, and the ability to apply them to customer requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong computer skills, including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Flexibility to work any shift and overtime as needed.
- Ability to travel when required.
- Receptiveness to training and the ability to perform functions in multiple areas.
- Participation in a teamwork atmosphere and contribution to continuous improvement projects and processes.
- Ability to read procedures and process guidelines.
- Proficiency in recording and interpreting data.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts using whole numbers and decimals.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
Entry-level up to 3 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably the automotive industry. Recent college graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning and conducting analysis, inspection, design, testing, and integration activities to ensure product quality.
- Performing quality engineering reviews of design documentation to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Applying statistical process control (SPC) methods to analyze data and evaluate process performance.
- Documenting data obtained during quality assurance activities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Developing innovative approaches to problem-solving identified during quality assurance activities.
- Communicating significant issues or developments to management and providing recommended process improvements.
- Preparing reports to communicate the results of quality assurance activities.
- Presenting technical and program information to team members and management.
- Directing technical and administrative personnel involved in quality assurance activities.
- Maintaining knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
- Developing, applying, and maintaining quality requirements and standards for product development and manufacturing.
- Designing and implementing methods for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection.
- Promoting and executing quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, and reports.
- Assisting in process certification.
- Reviewing customers’ change requests and ensuring the inclusion of necessary criteria in quality and process plans.
- Developing, executing, and analyzing quality reporting measures.
- Reporting quality issues, trends, and losses to management.
- Auditing suppliers and establishing supplier quality requirements.
- Participating in internal and external quality audits.
- Interfacing with supplier and customer quality representatives to address quality assurance problems and implement corrective actions.
- Compiling, writing, and delivering training material on quality standards and activities as needed.
- Performing other duties as required.
MUST HAVE:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
Entry-level experience up to 3 years in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably the automotive industry.
Knowledge of ISO/QS-9000 standards.
Familiarity with CP and CPK concepts.
