On a weekly basis, you will lead or be part of a team interacting with large defense contractors, technology companies, and university researchers. JOB TITLE: Project Engineer
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Effectively manage joint projects with customers, university researchers, Department of Defense, and subcontractors.
• Keep projects on time by negotiating schedules with external project partners and internal stakeholders to achieve dates for each deliverable.
• Present in-depth technical information to people familiar with the project and non-technical or unfamiliar executives.
• Form comprehensive technical reports based on information and data collected from internal and external sources.
• Manage materials and process development tasks by communicating your experimental designs to research and process development technicians.
• Ability to problem solve in a methodical manner – the strong root cause corrective action experience within engineering/operations
• Ability to develop, execute and analyze trials/design of experiments
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide project updates during daily standup/scrum meetings.
• Provide daily direction to technical staff by formulating experimental plans and communicating these plans to the technical staff.
• Collaborate with engineering and senior leadership to solve problems and or perform root cause analysis.
• Formulate experimental plans based on hypotheses formed through root cause analysis.
• Lead meetings that provide technical updates to project partners and customers.
• Collaborate with senior and technical staff to review federal research grants and their applicability to SunRay Scientific’s competency.
• Write formal proposals seeking federal government research grant funding. This will involve collaborating with university researchers, commercial manufacturers, and government employees.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
• BS in Materials, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical engineering
• Requires 3-5 years relevant experience as a degreed engineer.
• Must be a US Citizen or Green cardholder to meet ITAR requirements
• Experienced in writing technical reports and assembling technical presentations.
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Must be a team player who is willing to cooperate with and consider input from a supervisor, coworkers, and members from other areas of the business; must be able to play either lead or support on projects.
• The ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals and technical procedures.
• Basic proficiency in data analysis, data presentation, and statistics
• Create convincing reports, work instructions, procedures, and operating manuals.
• Present technical topics to diverse audiences.
• Exceptional organizational skills and documentation skills.
• Must be able to handle multiple projects at any given time and prioritize efforts to meet deadlines.
• Be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekends as needed to support project execution.
• Travel as required to remote plants, facilities, customers, or suppliers.
