SUMMARY:

The NPI System Engineer will perform failure analysis on field systems to identify initiation sites and root cause.  Drive corrective actions and initiate projects for preventive actions.  Analyze and report quality and reliability performance. Write findings into internal, customer, and management facing reports that will guide future product improvements and update FMEA analyses.

Develop a database with user-friendly interface for instrument data analysis, production management and quality control reporting.  Advance, integrate, maintain, and support instrumentation software packages for flow cytometers and sorters. The software is mainly used for instrument control, real-time data acquisition, data display, real-time statistical data analysis, post-acquisition statistical data analysis and user data management. The software packages are desktop applications on Windows system. The user interface of the software is quite complex and highly interactive with the user. The front-end user interface is developed with WPF and the backend is developed with .Net/C#. The database is SQL Server with Microsoft’s latest Entity Framework technology.

The NPI System Engineer is required to acquire a technical understanding of all Cytek Cytometer Systems

This position is expected to have practical engineering investigative skills, software skills and experience in medical device failure analysis

Perform failure analyses that identify root causes for quality issues. Utilize engineering skills to identify potential corrective actions

Identify opportunities for product enhancements that can aid in failure and root cause analysis. Develop follow on reports to demonstrate the effectiveness of quality initiatives

Work closely with field service team to improve reporting on field failures, gathering of data on failure modes, and increase the speed that analyses can be completed and communicated

Responsible for designing, developing and maintaining both frontend UI and backend instrument control software components

Integrate software with firmware/hardware subsystems and trouble shoot issues for system integration and system testing and verifications

Report progress to the Director of NPI. Manage priority changes and minimize the impact to customers and owners from deviations to planned activities

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Master’s degree in Bioinformatics or Physics/Engineering/Scientific simulation/computations is highly desirable

In-depth knowledge and experience of hardware testing, debug and failure analysis.

Extensive .Net desktop application development experience preferably gained on complex user interface desktop applications

In depth knowledge and experience of using Object Oriented Design concepts.

Proficient in WPF and C#

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Experience in developing new software components and supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by others

Advanced knowledge/experience on bioinformatics algorithms or Engineering/Scientific simulation/computational algorithms is a plus
