Full-Time Mechanical Project Engineer
Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We have a Senior Process Engineer’s position open at our Auburn, CA location. Wunderlich-Malec Engineering is a 100% employee-owned company and one of the largest and most well-established (35+ years) engineering companies in the United States. The successful candidate will perform duties of the lead design engineer for work performed at our Auburn office on projects in various industrial plants including specialty manufacturing, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, advanced technologies, and others.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will perform engineering functions on projects in various industrial plants. Successful candidates will perform the following.
- Develop P&IDs
- Perform mass and energy balance calculations
- Perform site investigations
- Size and select pumps, pipes, ducts, conveyors, and other material handling equipment, process equipment, utility equipment
- Generate engineering and construction documents, drawings, and specification
- Manage site construction activities including coordinating different construction tasks, supervision of various trade contractors, communicating with vendors, contractors, facility owner/operators.
- Manage project construction budget and schedule.
- Successfully manage the startup of process systems and their commissioning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year college degree in engineering with a major in Mechanical, Chemical or Bio-medical engineering discipline
- At least four years of engineering experience
- High level of competency with CAD software like AutoCAD, Revit, or Inventor
- Experience with at least one 3D CAD software from among Plant 3D, Revit, Inventor, or Solidworks.
- High level of competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project software
- Ability to travel to project sites
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to stay organized in the execution of project work
- Ability to function effectively in a cross-functional team comprising designers, engineers, clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 40% to local customer sites. Customers are mostly in the Sacramento, CA area.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in an engineering capacity in pharmaceutical, biotech, food and beverage, consumer goods manufacturing, or other industrial manufacturing operation
- Experience working with an engineering design firm or engineering consulting firm
- Prior experience with steam systems, hydronic systems, compressed gas systems, etc
- Ability to conduct client presentations
- Familiarity with Pipeflo, Caeser II, Carrier HAP, Trane Tracer, or other similar software
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Ability to demonstrate high-quality level in document and drawing preparation
- Familiarity with GMP principles and California building codes, OSHA, FDA, and USDA regulations
- Familiarity with ASHRAE, ISPE, and ASME code
- EIT certification
- PE license
- Technical publication or poster board presentations at professional conventions.
Working Conditions
Standard office environment, on-site office environment, and diverse industrial/construction environments. Frequent PC usage, copy machines, phones.
MUST HAVE:
Four-year college degree in engineering with a major in Mechanical, Chemical.
4 years of experience in Engineering industry.
