Overview:
This individual must have a good working knowledge of maintenance, reliability, Mechanical Integrity, and Quality Assurance (MIQA) best practices. This person must have the organizational capability to work in multiple production areas and processes and be able to communicate well with operators, mechanics, peers, and leadership. They must be able to lead multiple improvement teams in the various production areas and network with appropriate networks such as MIQANET and ME&I and maintain a strong connect to technical organizations such as the Rotating Machinery, E&I, Process Equipment, and M&RS groups.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute API 510, API 570 and API 653 inspections and NDE on the site vessels tanks and piping.
- Spearhead the site NJ Owner User Pressure Vessel program.
- Ensure appropriate inspection technologies are being used and assess the quality of inspection plans.
- Revise and Implement test plans to ensure equipment tests are appropriate for application.
- Follow up on inspection findings to improve equipment reliability prior to equipment failure.
- Utilize reliability engineering tools to maximize equipment reliability such as: SAP, Meridium, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk Based Inspections (RBI), RCFA, spare parts optimizations, TEEP&OEE, PM Plan optimizations, reliability modeling, equipment history analysis, failure predictions and other reliability tools or techniques as needed to drive reliability solutions.
- Prioritize and drive reliability and maintenance improvements efforts based on the above tools, cost, business objectives, etc.
- Provide coaching to Area Operations and Maintenance technicians of importance of early work identification, proper use of SAP, operating within Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs), general/overall machine health, etc.
- Provide technical guidance/coaching for routine maintenance activities, as needed.
- Implement Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance (MIQA) best practices. Track, document, and communicate mechanical integrity work being performed on PSM Critical Equipment.
- Provides technical, MIQA and reliability support for items such as: vessels, piping, mechanical equipment, rotating equipment, and materials of construction consistent with ASME, API, SAP, Internal Standards, PSM MIQA requirements, Inspection Briefs, etc.
- Develop and utilize personal network of Corporate and Site resources to ensure adequate technical and reliability support is provided, as needed.
- Analyze equipment history, including auditing data accuracy, and follow-up with Technicians.
- Provide support for root cause failure analysis (RCFA, 5-Whys) for critical equipment failures, including physical failure analysis.
- Ensure correct information is entered into the SAP with a unique ID, with a complete description, proper codes, and data fields, etc.
- Determine critical spare parts and appropriate stocking levels.
Qualifications:
- BS in mechanical engineering or related engineering field time.
- Up to date API certifications in 510 and 570.
- Up to date NDE certification- Level II-UT Thickness Limited.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- API 653 certification is a plus.

- Facilities engineering processes, principles, and maintenance & reliability functional excellence capability.
- 2+ years or more experience in a chemical/manufacturing plant (or related industry) with a focus on MIQA, reliability, or PSM, preferably in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment.
- Understands MIQA policy requirements for Process Safety Management (S21A), statutory & regulatory requirements as applicable, and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP).
- Understands the Maintenance Work Management Process (WMP) and its impact upon MIQA.
Must Haves:
- BS in mechanical engineering or related engineering field time.
- Up to date API certifications in 510 and 570.
- Up to date NDE certification- Level II-UT Thickness Limited.
Nice to Haves:
- API 653 certification is a plus.
- Facilities engineering processes, principles, and maintenance & reliability functional excellence capability.
- 2+ years or more experience in a chemical/manufacturing plant (or related industry) with a focus on MIQA, reliability, or PSM, preferably in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment.
