Full-Time Income Tax Compliance Manager

Location preference is Pittsburgh, but open to remote candidates.
JOB SUMMARY
The Income Tax Compliance Manager (“Manager”) oversees a team of Consultants and Senior Consultants to deliver federal, state & local income tax compliance services for assigned clients, including original return and amended income tax filings. The Manager maintains existing client relationships and oversees the timely preparation of federal and state income tax filings in accordance with current tax regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review of US Federal, State & local income tax workpapers, income tax returns and other non-income tax returns/reports including tax estimates, extensions and provisions
- Delivering a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within designated timeframes
- Managers have the primary responsibility to ensure projects are conducted in accordance with firm standards and completed on time
- Building relationships and interacting with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting and expertise
- Providing innovative tax planning and reviewing complex income tax returns
- Supervisory responsibilities, including training staff and peers and checking work for accuracy and completeness
- Perform tax technical research of relevant federal and state tax law
- Participate in business development activities including assisting the team Director in developing proposals, presentations and planning strategies
- Working with the team Principal/Director to develop project work plans and scheduling associated project deliverables
- Detail reviewing federal and state tax work papers and all income tax filings
- Responding to client requests and corresponding with clients to meet deliverables
- Participating in meetings with client tax department personnel
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 5+ years of tax professional services experience preferably from a larger firm.
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Effective communicator and have the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Deadline oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Management capabilities to grow and assume additional responsibilities
- Ability to supervise, train and mentor existing Consultants/Senior Consultants and support talented tax team building effort to drive optimal performance
- Intermediate knowledge of GOSYSTEMS Tax RS software, ONESOURCE software, and/or Corptax software is highly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft® Excel, Microsoft® Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research
MUST HAVE:
Experience with C Corps, S Corps, Partnerships, and 990’s tax returns in multiple states
Strong client-facing, client management skills
The ability to mentor, manage and guide staff-level employees
NICE TO HAVE:
Candidates can come from industry or public accounting. A blend of both would be great, but preference to public accounting if choosing between the two
Intermediate knowledge of GEOSYSTEMS Tax RS software, ONESOURCE software, and/or Corptax software
ADDITIONAL INFO
Busy times of the year = 55+ hours per week to get the mission accomplished (April 15th deadline, then July – October for extensions)
